Salted Caramel Sprinkles Cupcake

If you couldn’t tell by the name of my blog, I love to eat. To me, eating is not only a necessity, but it is a passion and art that I hold close to my heart. Ever since I was a child, I have had a deep appreciation for good food, whether it be Toro (“meltinmymouth” Fatty Tuna) Nigiri or a Chick-Fil-A Sandwich (with waffle fries and that at addicting Chick-Fil-A sauce of course).  I truly live to eat, and there are several reasons for that:

1) The obvious: food is just DELICIOUS. The flavors and combinations are endless, and it never ceases to satisfy.

2) Food is an experience. Whether it be a personal experience while getting a morning cup of Joe, or one that involves family gathered around a table having Sunday dinner, food brings about emotions and experiences; it calls for a reaction within us. For me, when I get HANGRY (hungry and angry), that first bite of my long-awaited meal provides immediate relief and comfort. When catching up with old friends, food is the magnet that brings us all together. After a long work or school day, food at the family dinner table can brighten the mood and warm the soul. Regardless of what it is, positive or negative, food has the powerful ability to instill memories and emotions in us from the experience it brings.

3) It brings cultures together and allows us to experience what someone else associates as their “comfort food”. Living in the New York City area, I am especially fortunate to be immersed in so many different cultures and foods.

4) Food is an art. It is not always so easy to make a delicious dish, and what you get to experience while eating is someone else’s passion put on a plate.

The list goes on. But it is because of these reasons that “befatbehappy” came to be. I’m a big believer in savoring and enjoying the things life has to offer. I always say, “Calories are simply numbers.” This does not mean that I swear off healthy things; God created all good things to be enjoyed in moderation. However, I believe food is too important and too awesome not to be appreciated.

So that’s all I’ve got for now. I’m just your typical Filipino-American woman foodventuring it through NYC and beyond. I eventually would love to have my own show where I travel, discover and analyze different foods and the cultures they come from. But, one step at a time. For now, follow along and be prepared for your mouth to water a little bit. 😉

Stay hungry everyone,

BFBH Sig

Mission Statement: Food is and always has been my passion. I share this passion through visual and experiential moments leveraging digital and social media channels. It is my hope that people who decide to follow my blog will realize that food, enjoyed in the right way with the right people, can bring joy, togetherness and memories rather than being enslaved by it with the ‘counting of calories’ and the like – which has been dictated by our society today. It is my hope that together we can ‘befatbehappy’.
